A 42-year-old man and his female companion were arrested by Cagayan de Oro police officers during a drug buy-bust operation at 5 pm yesterday.

Police Col. Aaron Mandia, Cagayan de Oro City Police Office director, identified the suspects as Gerald Pantuan, unemployed, married, and Mirasol Matugas, 38, unemployed, and both residing at Zone 4, Barangay Bugo.

Mandia said the suspects were nabbed by personnel assigned at police station 3 in Agora led by Police Capt. Ernesto Sanchez in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Administration and the City Intelligence Unit at one of the houses of the said barangay.

Aside from a sachet containing suspected shabu worth P1,000 purchased during a buy-bust, authorities also seized a medium-sized tightly sealed transparent plastic cellophane containing four pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu with an estimated street value of P13,600.

Also taken from the two were a mobile phone, and P1,000 marked money.

The said operation was witnessed by a barangay official and a representative from the Department of Justice.

The suspects are now under the custody of Agora police awaiting the filing of appropriate charges.
