AN 18-year-old criminology student in Bukidnon has been killed he was accidentally shot by a police officer at dawn today.
In a police report, the victim was identified as Zyro Zandro Linaza, a resident of Purok 4, Barangay Palacpacan, San Fernando of the said province.
He succumbed to a lone gunshot wound on his left chest that resulted in his instantaneous death.
The suspect was identified as Police Master Sgt. Faith Lauron Panduma, assigned to the San Fernando Municipal Police Station of the same province.
The incident took place while the two were having a conversation inside a certain Pedringuez residence located at Purok 6, Barangay Halapitan of the said town.
It was learned that while they were conversing, Panduma took his service firearm, a Glock 17 from his waist and placed it on the table.
But the gun accidentally discharged and hit the victim.
Personnel of the said station rushed Linaza to the nearest hospital only to be declared dead on arrival.
Panduma’s service firearm was confiscated and he is now placed under the custody of the said police station awaiting the filing of appropriate cases.
