NORTHERN Mindanao Agriculture department (DA-10) has signed the Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita program with a group and a town in Misamis Oriental to ensure that the products of farmers reach consumers without passing through a multilayered marketing system.
In a press statement last week, the DA-10 provided an additional financial grant to beneficiaries under its Enhanced Kadiwa Inclusive Food Supply Chain Program.
It even signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Canitoan Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CAFAMCO) on December 17.
It said it is to ensure available and accessible food during the COVID-19 pandemic, through the DA's Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD).
DA-10 regional executive director Carlene C. Collado signed the MOA with CAFAMCO chair Lucas W. Faborada and Magsaysay town Mayor Rey B. Buhisan.
Through the program, CAFAMCO will receive a P1 million grant in support to packing house facilities (P240,000 working capital, P670,000 hauling vehicle, and P90,000 ancillary equipment).
CAFAMCO is one of DA-10’s regular Kadiwa suppliers and directly buys other farm produce in the hinterlands of the city and sells in Kadiwa outlets.
The other agreement was a P5 million trading post with equipment in Magsaysay, Misamis Oriental, the statement said.
Collado said, the Enhanced Kadiwa program aims to provide financial grant assistance to eligible organizations to strengthen its operations for Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita – a program.
The aim is to bring agri-fishery products directly to the consumers, according to Collado.
