COUNCILOR Alexander Dacer has lashed out at city hall’s shelter and housing chairman for saying that he lied about an alleged attempt to overprice a 10-hectare property in Lumbia that is being considered as a relocation site for Typhoon Sendong survivors by city hall.
Dacer, chairman of the city council’s committee on subdivision and landed estate, said he has documents to support his allegation.
“Wala ko nag-ingon nga paliton nila. I said it was suspected that they attempted to buy the 10-hectare Lumbia property with an overpriced amount,” he said.
He cited city treasurer Glenn Bañez and acting city engineer Rolando Pacuribot’s recommendation to buy the property for P265 per square meter when the zonal value was only P155 per square meter, and sales data show P200/sqm based on information from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
He said P265 per square meter in Lumbia was exorbitant, pointing out that a property in Balubal was bought only for P150 per square meter.
Ramon Fernandez, chairman of the city’s shelter and housing task force, earlier denied Dacer’s accusation, calling the councilor’s allegation as a lie.
Dacer said, “It’s normal for them to say that I lied. It’s their defense.” He said he was not mistaken, and he has been looking into this since last year.
Dacer said he was waiting the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to submit its plan for the area. He said he would also oppose the plan to buy the Lumbia property owned by the heirs of Rizal Gador. He pointed out that the property is a pre-patent land, and not titled land.
