Davao court circuit resets arraignment of soldiers in videoke shooting incident

DAVAO CITY — The Regional Trial Court (RTC) here has reset the scheduled arraignment of a retired Army officer and his soldier-son tagged in the shooting incident inside a videoke bar in Sasa.
Accused retired Army 2Lt. Rex Veñegas and his soldier-son Private Mark Ryan Veñegas were supposed to be arraigned for murder and frustrated homicide on July 24, 2015.
But government prosecutor Victoriano Bello Jr. attended an official seminar at Royal Mandaya Hotel, prompting Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 16 Presiding Judge Em-manuel Carpio to reset the arraignment on Aug. 14, 2015.
Rex is standing trial on murder charges for the death of Rolando Juma-moy, 42, a resident of Doña Salud Subdivision, Sasa Davao City.
Aside from the murder charges, Rex along with his soldier-son Mark Ryan of the 25th Infantry Battalion is also facing frustrated homicide charges for the shooting of Police Officer (PO) 3 Rey Alburo of the Sasa Police Station who responded right after Juma-moy was shot. (pna)
