By BONITA L. ERMAC Correspondent ILIGAN CITY-- A  MOA signing involving DepEd, Aboitez Foundation and Pilmico was held here for the implementation of feeding program last July 3, 2015. Pilmico has launched Kutitap program  to address under nutrition to kindergarten and grade 1 pupils  just to help  increase school participation, improve cognitive learning, and reduce drop-out rates among the kids. "This feeding program stregthens our commitment to be a partner for growth to the communities where we operate," said Pilmico President and CEO Sabin M. Aboitiz. He added that the project aims to help small bakeries in the area grow their business as they will serve as the supplier of bread snacks, Aboitiz said. Engr. Florencio  D. Sebandal,  Vice President for Operations said  Pilmico will distribute healthy and nutritious bread snacks to target pupils three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) for 38 weeks or one school year. The partner schools, meanwhile, will monitor the children's weight and height progress on a monthly basis and compare findings with the established nutrition statistics from the DepEd. "We are willing to help those who are in need and those who are willing to help themselves," said Sebandal, emphasizing that there should be a continuity of this project adding that some  donations are just being asked, and after receiving it, they go back and ask for another for the same donations. The Vice President for Operatipns applauded the cooperation of stakeholders involved, the principals and teachers that provided them the information that they wanted to have through their assessment, as he said "so that we can request/justify for another year's budget, he said. He added that they choose education believing it will matter so much. "We hope that by helping them, we can create a better citizens, country eventually better employment and growth in our economy. "Every noble program or any noble project starts with a very good heart, a heart that looks into the welfare of the school children", said Randolph B. Tortola, Schools Division Superintendent. He gratefully acknowledge and expressed his deep appreciation to PILMICO as one of the  strongest partner DepEd Iligan City committed to raise our children not only of good but become excellent citizen in the future, Tortola said. Meanwhile, more than 5,000 school children across ten elementary schools here have received nourishment assistance from Aboitiz Food Subsidiary Pilmico Foods Corporation (Pilmico) through its Kutitap Feeding program for the last 2 years. This year, the new target is to reach out to 4,500 kindergarten, first and second grade students from 13 Schools in the area. These beneficiary schools include: Kiwalan ELementary School, Luinab ES Bagong Silang ES,  Acmac ES,  Dalipuga Central School, Kalubihon ES, Severo-Sara Memorial School, Tubod ES,  Tomas Cabili Natipnal Higj School-Annex Sta. Elena,  Victor G. Guevara Memorial Central School, Villaverde ES, Ubaldo D. laya Memorial Central School, and Doña Josefa F. Celdran Memorial School.. "Partner bakeries should be consistent Pilmico Flour user and that they will use the recipe recommended by Pilmico to ensure consistency in its nutritional value. Budget allocation for this project cost to P6 million per year for Iligan, disclosed  ebandal.
