MISAMIS Oriental will start easing its restrictions on Monday as the national government decided to place Region 10 cities and provinces under a modified general community quarantine effective June.
The capitol said it would open its borders, allow two people per motorcycle, and no longer require people to show travel passes.
But Misamis Oriental Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano said the checkpoints would remain in the towns of Magsaysay, Tagoloan, Lugait, Opol, Laguindingan, and Claveria so that travelers can undergo thermal scanning, and visitors would still not be allowed in the Misamis Oriental Provincial Jail.
Emano told local radio establishments in Misamis Oriental would be allowed to open on 50-percent capacity next week.
He said he was worried about the new guidelines set by the Covid-19 Inter-Agency Task Force but understands that the government must also take care of the economy.
Emano cautioned residents of the province against abusing their “freedom.”
“Dili lang nato abusaran, ayaw ninyo abusohi. Hangyo ko nga kung malikayan pa gihapon nato paggawas sa atong mga kaugalingon, labi na kay dunay local transmission sa atong silingan but bililhon pa gihapon nga inyong mapanalipdan ang inyong minahal sa kinabuhi,” he said.
He asked the province’s barangay health emergency response teams to closely monitor their respective communities to identify people with respiratory illnesses.
Emano said he has instructed provincial health officer Jeri Calingasan to call on all town mayors and municipal health officers in the province to a meeting so they could decide on what to do with in the waje of the new guidelines from the IATF. (Shiela Mae Butlig)
