FORMER mayor Vicente Emano has declared Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte won’t get his support if the latter decides to run for President in 2016, saying he was already committed to Vice President Jejomar Binay.
“Dili man mahimo nga si Mayor Duterte akong suportahan kay dugay raman ako makasa-ad ni Vice President Binay nga ako gayud siya nga paloyohan,” Emano told Radyo Ultra over the weekend.
He said the same week Pulse Asia released results of its May-June survey which showed a dramatic drop in Binay’s ratings. Binay was dislodged by Sen. Grace Poe who, based on the survey, is now preferred by most Filipinos to.succeed President Aquino in 2016.Emano vowed to stick it out with Binay despite the vice president’s plunging ratings “kay dili usab ako gusto nga tawgon sa mga tawo nga oportunista.”
Emano is preparing to launch a campaign to take back control of city hall next year. His political ally Councilor Alexander Dacer said their party, the Padayon Pilipino, already has a complete set of candidates against the administration Liberal Party in the city. “Komplito na ang among line-up, nagsubra na man gani ang among mga kandidato,” Dacer said.
He did not give names but he hinted that Councilor Ramon Tabor could emerge as Padayon Pilipino’s candidate for congressman in the city’s 2nd District. The post would be up for grabs what with Rep. Rufus Rodriguez serving his third and last office term.“Dili lang nako ibutyag kinsay among mga kandidato sa pagka congressman, vice mayor ug mga kagawad kay gusto nako nga si Mayor Emano ra ang mag-announce ani,” said Dacer.
He said the Padayon Pilipino has been mobilizing and strengthening itself by holding frequent meeting with barangay leaders, including village councilors.
