HOST Barangay Esperanza made its presence felt at the opening of the Paglaum Cup Sports Festival 2024 over the weekend at the covered court of Barangay Esperanza, Kinoguitan, Misamis Oriental.
In the only contested match after the colorful parade participated by all 15 barangays of Kinoguitan and the exhilarating TikTok Challenge by the lovely muses, the Esperanza dribblers came seething right away as they mauled their visiting Open division counterparts from Barangay Bolisong, 69-36 to establish themselves among the early title favorites in basketball.
“Dagko, tag-as unya mga shooter pud among mga players. Without a doubt, aduna gyoy ikasukol sa uban nga barangay,” Esperanza village chair Lauro Go told Gold Star Daily.
He expects the equally strong Team Poblacion to be their biggest threat in the weekly hoop fest, which will resume on Saturday, October 12, with seven scheduled matches at the same venue.
Kinoguitan SK chairwoman Jovi Frances Chee Lofranco said the volleyball games for men’s and women’s categories will also start on Sunday, October 13.
“Pabor sab ni sa amo nga maka-officiate sa ilang volleyball kay at the same time maka scout sab ‘mi knowing that Kinoguitan is rich of young and budding volleyball players,” said Cagayan de Oro-based volleyball coach and trainor Reynante ‘Bobong’ Rameri.
Paglaum sports caretaker Chrysostom ‘Tammy’ Cailing said the Kinoguitan Sports Festival was greatly inspired by the success of its previous editions in Villanueva, Jasaan, and Balingasag.
