FOR possessing a high-caliber firearm illegally, a 35-year-old farmer in Bukidnon was arrested by authorities over the weekend.
Police Col. Jun Mark Lagare, the province’s provincial police director, identified the suspect as Raph Nel Valdez, married, and residing at Kibaning, Kalilangan of the said province.
He was arrested at 9 am by personnel assigned at Kalilangan Municipal Police Station led by Police Capt. Merlin Macawili while at Purok 7, Central Poblacion of the said town.
Recovered from the suspect was a .45 caliber ‘colt’ pistol bearing serial number 131202 with four live bullets.
In a police report, it was revealed that prior to the arrest, Kalilangan police received a piece of information from a concerned citizen that the suspect, who was drunk was creating trouble in the said area and was holding a short firearm.
Immediately, responding policemen proceeded to the area and arrested the suspect.
Lagare said, Valdez, who is under the custody of Kalilangan police, will be facing charges of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
