CLAVERIA, Misamis Oriental — A foundation created in memory of slain former University of Science and Technology of the Philippines (USTP) President Dr. Ricardo E. Rotoras is calling for partners to help expand opportunities in science, technology, innovation and community development.

The Dr. Ricardo E. Rotoras Memorial Foundation, Inc. (DRERMFI) is seeking donors, volunteers, mentors and organizations willing to support programs for students, faculty members, non-teaching personnel and communities.

Engr. Zarah Lynn Rotoras, the foundation’s board chairperson and president and the wife of the late university president, said the foundation was envisioned as a way to carry forward programs and projects her husband had wanted to pursue.

“We were pushed to do our part for this foundation. This is not easy, but as we are inspired, we will do our best to continue the legacy,” Rotoras said during a press conference at the USTP Claveria Campus on Monday.

The foundation plans to support students through scholarships, leadership development, mentoring and service opportunities.

It also intends to provide professional and personal development programs for non-teaching personnel.

For USTP faculty members, the foundation plans to raise funds for research and innovation projects.

“The foundation will raise funds for innovation proposals from the faculty. We will focus on research also,” said Herbert Glenn Reyes, foundation board member and corporate treasurer.

Beyond funding, the foundation also aims to help develop student leaders through learning, mentoring and community service while supporting projects focused on science, technology and innovation.

USTP currently serves about 26,000 students across its campuses. The foundation hopes to give individuals, organizations and institutions an avenue to directly support programs that benefit the university community and other beneficiaries.

The foundation is now welcoming partners who can provide financial assistance, mentorship, volunteer services or other forms of support.
