NATIONAL Task Force Against COVID-19 (NTF) chief implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., on Saturday approved Rep. Rufus Rodriguez' request to send additional booster shots to Cagayan de Oro City.
In a letter to Rodriguez Friday, Galvez said the request has been endorsed and channeled to the National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC) headed by Usec. Myrna Cabotaje.
Earlier, Rodriguez sent letters to the IATF and DOH asking for more booster Pfizer and Moderna vaccines to be administered to frontline medical workers, senior citizens, persons with commodities, and frontline personnel in essential sectors in CDO.
“We need more vaccines in CDO to inoculate more people. We haven’t achieved herd immunity yet. Those who completed their 2 doses need a booster shot amid the threat of Omicron variant,” Rodriguez said.
The Covid-19 cases in NCR is exponentially rising, he said, adding that cases in CDO are also significantly rising.
It always follows that whenever NCR experiences surge, other cities and provinces will follow.
“The booster vaccines could save lives and prevent people from getting hospitalized,” he stressed.
Cagayan de Oro logged 11, 16 and 26 cases of Covid-19 on January 4, 5, and 6 respectively.
Rodriguez thanked Galvez for approving his request and he expects the arrival of more Covid-19 booster vaccines in the coming days.
