GINGOOG City — City government employees in Gingoog are set to receive the third tranche of their salary adjustment after the Sangguniang Panlungsod approved a ₱12.95-million supplemental budget on second reading Monday, Aug. 10.
The ₱12.952-million Supplemental Budget No. 17, Series of 2026 will fund the salary adjustment for city government personnel under Executive Order No. 64 and applicable budget guidelines.
The measure was sponsored by City Councilor Winfred T. Militante Jr., chair of the SP Committee on Finance, Budget and Appropriation, following a request from Mayor Erick G. Cañosa.
The mayor proposed using ₱12,952,165.20 in savings from unfilled vacant positions in the city government from January to June 2026.
The savings came from three sources:
- General Fund Proper: ₱12,283,954
- City Economic Enterprise Department: ₱304,787.20
- Gingoog City United Colleges: ₱363,424
The total amounts to ₱12,952,165.20, which will be reappropriated for the third-tranche salary adjustment.
For employees, the measure comes as the cost of everyday necessities continues to put pressure on household budgets.
City Councilor Jerome Magan described the approval as good news for city government workers, particularly as prices of basic commodities continue to rise.
“This is good news to our city government employees, especially now that the prices of basic commodities continue to rise,” Magan said.
The measure still needs to complete the remaining legislative and approval requirements before the salary adjustment can be fully implemented.
