CAGAYAN de Oro City Councilor George Goking on Tuesday received special recognition from the Philippine Air Force (PAF) during its Reservists’ Graduation Day Class 2021.

On his Facebook page, Goking shared photos of his Military Commendation Medal (MCM) as a reservist Captain of the PAF. He thanks PAF for the recognition.

The councilor was cited for his “active participation” in supporting Air Force reserve programs.

PAF usually giving awards to reservists who strategically advocating PAF Reservists Program that created positive impact in the society which immensely contributed on the overall mission accomplishment of the PAF.

Goking was recognized for the invaluable services he rendered through active participation in the different PAF reservist programs.

“To the Philippine Air Force thank you so much for this recognition. Truly it is an honor to serve,” said Goking.

He became PAF reservist in 2009 after completing his basic citizen military training with the rank of Master Sergeant.

The new batch of graduates are trained as regulars in PAF on rescue defense, intel and public service, according to Goking.

“I encourage you, to keep up the good work and continue the high standard of professionalism in performing your duties,” Goking said in his message.

The councilor, who has then received multiple awards from the Armed forces of the Philippines (AFP) said he is pleased for the recognition of his efforts for the country.

The Republic Act 7077 or the Citizen Armed forces of the Philippines Reservist Act aims to provide maximum opportunity to participate in safeguarding the security of the state and in assisting in socioeconomic development.

It is also an act providing for the organization, administration, training, maintenance, and utilization of the Citizen Armed Force of the Armed Forces of The Philippines.

“My congratulations and welcome to the organization,” said Goking.

In an earlier development, as chair of the City Council committees' on trade and commerce and on ways and means he has requested the city government to provide technical and even extend financial support to reservists in this time of pandemic and on disaster relief missions. (Ben Balce)
