CITY Councilor George S. Goking on Saturday urged the Departments of Energy (DOE) and Trade and Industry (DTI) to work hand in hand against premature fuel price increases.
Goking, committee on trade and commerce chair even seeks to provide extensive economic relief to consumers battered by soaring fuel prices that were already happened in constant early January, this year.
“We are continue monitoring of gasoline prices in the city,” said Goking adding that the agencies should activate a task force that will guard against oil companies who implementing premature fuel increases.
He noted that any increase will also trigger increases in the prices of basic commodities.
“One of the elements that cause the domino effect of high prices is gasoline and other petroleum products,” he said.
As Goking tackles issues and concerns affecting businesses, he said there should be a balance in the move to protect businessmen and the consuming public as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to threaten the city’s health and economy.
