LIKE other front-liners, Army, Navy, and Air Force reservists in the country, another batch of graduates from the 8th Air Reserve Center’s Basic Citizen Military Training (BCMT) can now display their “bayanihan” spirit in augmenting government efforts to combat the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
Thus, said Councilor George Goking, chair of the City Council committees on trade and commerce and on ways and means during the closing ceremony of the Class 2021 in Barangay Lumbia, Sunday.
“While front-liners risk their lives as the country continues to battle the Covid-19 pandemic, these batch of Philippine Air Force reservists are now ready to show their compassion and volunteerism to help our frontliners including the needy,” said Goking.
Goking, who also an Air Force reservist, with the rank of Captain, congratulated the graduates and welcomed them to the organization.
“The new batch of graduates are trained as regulars in PAF on rescue defense, intel and public service,” said Goking, who graced the occasion.
He said, he started as PAF reservist with rank of Master Sergeant in 2009.
He said, the reservists received basic military citizen training for 7 months, the entry-level program facilitated by the 8th Air Reserve Center, PAF.
“Despite the pandemic, thanks God the activity was a success,” said Goking, adding that the immediate response to the needs can be done by working together hand in hand whatever problem may arise.
Goking pointed out that the military reservists can extend services to schools, hospitals, and people from all walks of life, particularly those who are affected by calamities.
“Our commitment as a reservist and our services is much needed by our community and countrymen,” according to Goking.
The councilor also urged them to work together for the health, peace, and order and economic recovery of the community. (Ben Balce)
