TWO suspects involved in the shooting death of a vendor in Iligan City last Sunday were arrested by authorities less than an hour after the incident.

Iligan City Police Office Director Police Col. Dominador Estrada identified the suspects as Dansalan Mamao, 24. Married, a native of Lapu-Lapu City in Mactan Island, Cebu but presently residing at Bayanihan Village, Sta. Elena Iligan.

Also arrested was the former’s companion a certain Jamal Ampaso, 31 of Purok 29, Lot 6, Bayanihan Village, Sta Elena of the same city.

Ampaso was the driver of a getaway vehicle, a red Innova with plate number Zem 682.

The duo was believed to be responsible for the killing of Michael Lon Formento Serentas, 34, married, a resident of Block 21 of the same barangay at 7:30 pm while the former was having a drinking session with his father inside his residence.

According to the police report, Serentas later went outside their house for some personal reasons, then multiple gunshots were heard.

Personnel from the Scene of the Crime Operatives had discovered a .38 caliber revolver believed to be owned by the victim with three live bullets. Also found were three pieces of fired ammunition from the same gun.

Operatives also found three cartridge cases of a .45 caliber pistol believed to be coming from the suspects’ firearm.

At around 8:16 pm, a call coming from Baloi police in Lanao del Sur was received by the Iligan police informing them that they were able to intercept the two suspects later identified as Mamao and Ampaso.

Arresting officers found on Mamao’s back portion on his left ear a minor gunshot wound.

The suspects then were turned over to the Iligan police for custody and for an investigation to determine the motive of the killing.
