A 54-year-old Iligan resident is now in jail after she was arrested in violation of the Bouncing Checks Law, yesterday morning.
Police Maj. Jose Marlon Agabon, police station 2 commander, identified the suspect as Emelita Alacala, a resident of Steeltown, Barangay Sta. Elena of the said city.
She was arrested by Agabon’s operating team at Sitio Nonucan, Barangay Maria Cristina of the same city at 10:22 am.
Judge Orlando Gallardo of the Municipal Circuit Trial Court-Branch 2 who issued the warrant of arrest, allowed the suspect to post a bail bond of P2,000 for her temporary liberty.
Bouncing Check Law or Bilang Pambansa 22, enacted in 1979, states that any person who makes or draws and issues a check knowing that his or her bank account does not have sufficient funds.
The suspect is now temporarily under the custody of the said station awaiting the return of the warrant and the presentation of the arrested person to the issuing court.
