CAGAYAN De Oro City — Students of South 1-A Central School in Barangay Tubod are set to gain access to digital learning resources through an e-library project under a partnership between the Iligan City government and the Korean Freedom Federation.

Mayor Frederick W. Siao and Korean Freedom Federation President and City Honorary Ambassador to Korea Capt. Yunkwon Ko signed a memorandum of understanding on Oct. 5 at Iligan City Hall to establish the e-library.

Marie Grace Halibas, executive director of the city’s Local Economic Investment Program, said the project aims to help students build their knowledge and skills through digital resources and learning opportunities.

“This initiative is a wonderful example of international friendship transformed into a meaningful investment in education,” Halibas said.

The project was among the initiatives presented during the launch of Iliganon Business Month 2026, a monthlong program promoting investment, supporting local businesses and creating economic opportunities.

City Councilor Marlene Young said the city aims to position Iligan as a gateway for enterprise and investment.

“Our message is simple: Invest in Iligan, our people, businesses, innovations, and opportunities,” she said.

The city government said the partnership supports efforts to expand learning opportunities and develop local communities.

Details on the e-library’s project cost, equipment, implementation timeline and target opening date were not provided in the announcement. (With a report from Rachel D. Ala/PIA-10/Lanao del Norte)
