THE Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (Philhealth) has paid city hall’s JR Borja General Memorial Hospital some P48.6 million for medical and surgical cases from January to May 2015 alone. Philhealth revealed this even as it cited city hall’s JR Borja General Memorial Hospital as among the leading local government-owned hospitals in Region 10 in terms of admission of patients with Philhealth coverage. Datu Masiding Alonto Jr., Philhealth regional vice president, said, “At this rate, it is safe to project that JR Borja General Hospital would breach the P100-million mark in Philhealth benefits payments for 2015” Regionwide, Alonto said, the JR Borja General Hospital now ranks No. 13 in the list of best performing health care providers in terms of Philhealth Benefits Payments. He also noted that the city hall-owned hospital has consistently increased its Philhealth generated-income, earning from P18.2 million in 2013 to P57.5 million in 2014. Alonto also cited as a big improvement city hall’s implementation of the Philhealth Maternity Care Package (MCP) in the city. He said that in 2013, city hall only had eight Philhealth-accredited health centers with the capability to deliver the Maternal Care Package. Today, he said, the number dramatically increased to 40 health centers, all Philhealth-accredited and with the capability to provide the Maternal Health Package. Alonto said the 40 health centers have generated some P5.5 million from Philhealth through the Maternal Care Package from January to May 2015. -nitz arancon
