JUST as heads will roll among ‘non-performing’ department and assistant department managers next year, Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy said those that served well at City Hall for some time will be evaluated for better pay.
“Based on my experience as a barangay captain, I’ve seen firsthand how barangay health workers and barangay nutrition scholars have helped a lot in providing health services to our constituents (at) the barangay level especially those in the hinterlands. And I haven’t forgotten their sacrifice and commitment to service,” Mayor Uy said in Visayan.
During his recent radio program ‘Ang Inyong Alagad: Mayor Klarex Uy,’ Mayor Uy said he confirmed his announcement to promote both long-serving health workers and nutrition scholars with good performance track records during a recent Christmas party held for them.
Instead of regular salaries, both BHWs and BNS receive honoraria for their service based on a barangay’s allotted budget.

“Now that I’ve been given a chance to improve their conditions those that served as either BNS or BHW for some time will be paid by the city. In fact, those that served with a good track record in their respective assigned barangays for at least two years will be paid by the city either the following month or year,” Mayor Uy said in Visayan, adding that the same benefit will also be extended to traffic personnel.
“I will also work to make it easier for long-serving personnel of the (Roads and Traffic Administration) with good track records and commitment to public service to be promoted,” Mayor Uy said in Visayan.
The mayor gave these assurances weeks after he confirmed that a revamp will be implemented at City Hall to replace ‘non-performing’ department managers and personnel.
The planned to revamp came after Mayor Uy voiced disappointment over reports that some employees were delaying their services to City Hall’s constituents in exchange for favors including money.
Two employees whom Mayor Uy declined to name were already relieved.
“I already have a list of names on my table and should they fail to improve they, along with non-performing department managers will be replaced,” Mayor Uy said in Visayan. (Stephen Capillas of City Information Office)
