WHILE bringing some Christmas cheer to City Hall’s bureaucracy, Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy also issued a strong reminder to employees and department managers not to procrastinate or delay their services to the public even during the holidays.
“Whatever is needed by our people, we shouldn’t take five days, one week, or two weeks. If we can do it, let’s address their concerns in three days. Because time is valuable for them and you don’t know if they also have other pressing problems to attend to. That’s why I’m asking you if you can just provide them what they need in three days,” Mayor Uy told the City Hall bureaucracy in Visayan.
During today’s flag-raising program hosted by the City General Services Office (CGSO), Mayor Uy said he learned there are departments whose clients make repeat visits to their offices only to be re-scheduled for another date.
“I also learned there are people who promise to fix their concerns in exchange for money. They will also name-drop their department managers,” Mayor Uy said in Visayan.
Mayor Uy said he won’t name names for now if only not to disrupt the holiday sentiments of employees and department managers.
“But after the holidays, you will know who they are because I will call them to my office. Their names are on my table. If any City Hall employee or department manager exploits the public for services owed to them, then they crossed the line and I will go after them,” Mayor Uy said in Visayan.
Mayor Uy said he ordered the relief of two employees after receiving complaints about them but declined to give their names. While saying that skeleton staff will be maintained during City Hall’s Christmas party celebration on Dec. 16, Mayor Uy said their quality of service to the public shouldn’t be compromised.
The mayor also drew cheers from the bureaucracy after confirming that three vehicles will be given as grand prizes to raffle draw winners.
Mayor Uy also confirmed that a 15th-month Christmas bonus will be given to regular and casual City Hall employees and officials by next week. A P10,000 bonus will also be given to every City Hall employee and official on January 2023, he said.
“I’m asking not for your political loyalty but that you’re loyal to your service to the people of Cagayan de Oro City,” Mayor Uy told them in Visayan. (Stephen Capillas of City Information Office)
