THE administration of Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy expressed its gratitude to a local company for donating a school building in Besigan, the farthest barangay in Cagayan de Oro.
City Administrator lawyer Roy Hilario Raagas extended the administration's thanks during the flag-raising ceremony at city hall on Monday morning.
He specifically acknowledged Gama Foods Corporation for their philanthropic effort in conducting the groundbreaking ceremony for the new one-storey, two-classroom building at Cadayonan Integrated School in Barangay Besigan.
Raagas attended the event on behalf of Mayor Uy and was joined by several key figures.
Among the attendees were Alyanna Chang Lim, an executive from Gama Foods Corp.; Barangay Captain Samuel Minister of Besigan; city engineer Joel Momongan; school head Jay-Ar Labajan; and representatives from the Department of Education-Cagayan de Oro Schools Division and the Local School Board.
The new school building is expected to provide significant benefits to the students and the community of Besigan.
It will not only improve the learning environment but also encourage more children to attend school regularly.
Mayor Uy's administration has been active in seeking partnerships with private companies to enhance educational facilities in remote areas.
This recent donation by Gama Foods Corporation is a prime example of successful collaboration between the public and private sectors for the betterment of society.
City Mayor's Office Chief of Staff Sheila Lumbatan, highlighted the far-reaching benefits of such educational infrastructures.
"School buildings like the one donated by Gama Foods Corporation are vital not only for learners in Barangay Besigan but also for students in nearby barangays, particularly those from the Indigenous Peoples (IPs) community," Lumbatan disclosed.
"These infrastructures serve as a beacon of hope and progress, helping bridge educational gaps and providing a conducive learning environment for all," said Lumbatan.
Lumbatan further emphasized that improved educational facilities could lead to better academic performance and increased school attendance.
"When children have access to safe and well-equipped classrooms, they are more likely to stay in school and succeed," said Lbatan adding that this is especially important for the IP communities, who often face additional challenges in accessing quality education.
Alyanna Chang Lim, representing Gama Foods Corporation, expressed their commitment to supporting education and community development.
She highlighted that the company is eager to contribute to creating better opportunities for the youth of Besigan.
Barangay Captain Samuel Minister also conveyed his appreciation for the new school building.
