AS Cagayan de Oro City and the rest of Northern Mindanao continue to experience inclement weather heading into the New Year, Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy reminded all barangays to always be prepared with their contingency measures.

“The system is in place and we have our City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Department to oversee and remind our barangays (on their contingencies),” Mayor Uy said in Visayan in a radio interview on Monday.

The mayor issued his statements as the CDRRMD together with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) is scheduled to send a team today to deliver relief goods to badly hit areas in Misamis Occidental.

Aside from Misamis Occidental, several areas in Misamis Oriental province were also hit by heavy rainfall especially Gingoog City which was placed along with several areas in Misamis Occidental under calamity status.

Among the areas identified as recipients of the city’s relief goods were the cities of Oroquieta and Ozamiz as well as the towns of Clarin, Tudela, Sinacaban, Jimenez, Panaon, and Aloran. Also badly hit were the towns of Medina, Talisayan, and Balingoan in Misamis Oriental.
