CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Rolando Uy and this city’s 2nd District Rep. Rufus Rodriguez officially launched “One Kagay an Kauban sa Katawhan” coalition on Saturday, September 28, for the May 2025 elections.

Mayor Uy became emotional during the proclamation, calling the alliance with Rodriguez a fulfillment of his long-held dreams for the city.

The coalition slate includes Mayor Uy seeking re-election, Jocelyn Rodriguez running for vice mayor, Maximo Rodriguez representing the Abante Mindanao Partylist, Raineir Joaquin Uy for 1st district congressman, and Rep. Rodriguez vying for re-election in the 2nd District.

Uy expressed deep gratitude to his supporters and the Rodriguez family for joining forces with him, stating, “I couldn’t hold back my tears—tears of joy—because my dreams are finally being fulfilled through this coalition with the Rodriguez family.”

Reflecting on past political mistakes, Uy acknowledged that he had previously aligned with the wrong people, whom he now described as exploitative.

“I was used and discarded when their ambitions were met, and I was blamed for not being the Klarex they thought they knew,” Uy said, without naming specific individuals.

He assured his supporters that his partnership with Rodriguez would be different, rooted in mutual trust and cooperation.

Vice-mayor candidate Jocelyn Rodriguez emphasized that the coalition is a blend of seasoned and new allies, working together toward the development of Cagayan de Oro under the banner of ‘One Kagay an kauban sa katawhan.’

Raineir Joaquin Uy, running for the 1st District congressional seat, outlined his vision of empowering barangays to ensure holistic development for the city.

Rep. Rodriguez, seeking re-election in the 2nd District, promised that no one would be left behind in their shared mission to uplift the city.

“We will all rise from poverty together,” Rodriguez declared, underscoring the coalition’s commitment to inclusive progress.
