CAGAYAN de Oro City — Three young entrepreneurs in Mambajao have received P100,000 in start-up funding to help turn their business ideas into income-generating ventures.
The funding gives the winners of the municipal government's Youthpreneurship 2.0: From Learning to Earning Program a chance to put their business plans into action after completing entrepreneurship training and presenting their proposals on Oct. 30.
Zachdrey Fus Saliring received P50,000 as the first-place winner, followed by Airah Datuiman with P30,000 and Dhailemerl Urog with P20,000.
Before receiving the funding, the participants completed nine learning modules on entrepreneurship, business development and preparation of a Business Model Canvas.
The training helped them identify potential customers, determine what products or services to offer, and plan their business resources, revenue sources and operating costs.
Mambajao Mayor Yñigo Jesus Romualdo said the program aims to help young people turn their business ideas into livelihood opportunities through training, mentorship and business development support.
He said the seed capital would help the winners take their first steps toward establishing their proposed enterprises.
“These are not just cash prizes. These are seeds of opportunity, investments in young Mambajaonons' potential, and the beginning of business journeys that we hope will flourish and create more opportunities for others,” Romualdo said.
The municipal government said the initiative is part of its efforts to expand youth participation in the local economy through entrepreneurship and livelihood development. (With a report from Recthie T. Paculba/PIA-10/Camiguin)
