A MOTORCYCLE-RIDING gunman killed a cockfighting aficionado while he was waiting for a ride home in Barangay Lagtang, Alubijid town in Misamis Oriental, at around 7 pm Sunday.
Capt. Bernil Alinas, Alubijid police chief, identified the victim as 44-year-old Darwin Roda of Purok 8, Poblacion, Alubijid town.
Alinas said Roda had just come from a cock derby and was waiting for a habal-habal when the gun attack was carried out.
Witnesses told the police a man came and shot Roda without provocation. After the attack, he jumped on a motorcycle and sped off.
The victim succumbed to three gunshots to the head and chest.
Alinas said the killer used a caliber .45 pistol as murder weapon.
Police are still facing a blank wall on the identity of the killer or his motive for killing Roda.
Alinas, however, said investigators are working on the case, collating data in the hope of piecing together information that could result in solving the murder case.
