CaAGAYAN de Oro City — Victims of the 2017 Marawi siege can use a new digital system to track their compensation claims and check for missing documents, the Marawi Compensation Board (MCB) said.

The Claims Processing Information System centralizes claim records and helps the board manage applications, according to MCB Board Member Jamaica L. Dimaporo.

The system was developed with assistance from the European Union (EU) and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) through the Support to Bangsamoro Transition (SUBATRA).

“With a centralized data system, mas mabilis yung pag-process ng mga documents namin ngayon, and also the claimants can track doon sa system kung nasaan yung mga folders nila, what documents they need to submit para ma-resolve yung mga folders nila,” Dimaporo said.

She said discussions with the EU began in March 2023. The board signed a memorandum of agreement with SUBATRA in 2024, followed by staff training for the system’s implementation.

The digital system has also helped speed up the processing of claim folders for raffling and resolution, Dimaporo said, adding that the board holds compensation awardings about every two weeks.

The MCB processes around 300 to 350 claim folders monthly and aims to complete the adjudication of remaining claims by the end of December 2027.

Dimaporo urged claimants with questions about their applications or documentary requirements to visit the MCB office for assistance.

She said the board continues to work on resolving claims filed by internally displaced persons and other victims of the siege.

To date, the MCB has resolved 6,247 claims and awarded a total of ₱6.597 billion in compensation, according to Dimaporo.

The amount was expected to reach ₱7.103 billion by the end of October 2026, she added.

The digital system is intended to make claim records easier to track and help applicants identify documents they still need to submit. Claimants should check directly with the MCB for updates on their individual applications (with a report from Apipa Bagumbaran)
