PALOS, a shop mechanic, who made a sideline by engaging in selling illegal drugs, was arrested by authorities yesterday afternoon.
Police Col. Jun Mark Lagare, Bukidnon Provincial Police Director, identified the suspect as Michael Andrada, a.k.a. ‘Palos,’ 45, married, and a resident of Phase 1, Habitat, Indahag, Cagayan de Oro City.
Palos was a classic Filipino comics and film character named Palos, which means Eel in Tagalog. In the original comics, Palos was a professional thief who possessed acrobatic skills and was adept in martial arts.
The suspect was arrested during a buy-bust operation conducted by police personnel assigned at Libona Municipal police station led by Police Lt. Reyman Pontillas while at Zone 5, Sitio Manlauyan, Barangay Gango, Libona of the said province at the 4:41 pm.
Confiscated from the suspect were two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu with an estimated street value of P6,800, a P1,000 bill, a disposable lighter, a personal mobile phone, and a Honda XRM 125 motorcycle without a plate number.
The operation was witnessed by Barangay chairman Aldren Ian Ministerio, and a media representative Efren Celocia of Gold Star Daily, Indahag, Cagayan de Oro City.
A criminal complaint in violation of Sections 5 and 11, Art II of RA 9165 is now being prepared against the arrested suspect.
