CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — The Philippine creator economy is set to reach a major regional milestone as Meta and YouTube come to Cagayan de Oro City for Creator Day: CDO 2026 on September 30, 2026.
A first in Mindanao, Creator Day: CDO will gather digital platforms, content creators, bloggers, vloggers, social media-savvy entrepreneurs, brands, businesses, and members of the community for a focused day of learning, collaboration, meaningful conversations and valuable connections.
The event is organized by the Creator and Influencer Council of the Philippines (CICP) and led locally by Mindanaoan.com, one of the organization’s founding directors based in Mindanao.
Creator Day: CDO forms part of Creator Week 2026, a nationwide celebration featuring activities in Manila, Cebu and Cagayan de Oro. With the theme “Where the Philippine Creator Economy Comes Together,” the initiative aims to make industry knowledge, platform access and economic opportunities more accessible to creators beyond the country’s largest markets.
“This is a milestone for Mindanao’s creator community,” said Maria Irene Aserios of Mindanaoan.com. “For many years, regional creators have built strong communities, produced compelling stories and helped brands connect with audiences in authentic ways. Creator Day: CDO aims to bring a powerful message: regional voices deserve the same visibility and opportunities as those in larger markets and included in the future of the creator economy.”
Platform insights, monetization and emerging opportunities
Representatives from Meta are expected to discuss the latest developments across its family of platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, Threads and WhatsApp. Sessions will cover platform updates, monetization tools, audience insights, Edits, Reels, Threads and other opportunities through which eligible creators can grow their communities and earn from their content.
Participants will also have the opportunity to engage with YouTube and learn more about the platform, its creator ecosystem and the possibilities available to Filipino content producers.
Beyond the platform sessions, Creator Day: CDO will feature important conversations on how brands and businesses can collaborate more effectively with creators. Discussions will also examine how the industry can continue moving forward amid the rapid growth of artificial intelligence, disinformation and other emerging technologies.
“Cagayan de Oro is an ideal gathering point for creators across Northern Mindanao and neighboring areas,” Aserios added. “This event is about opening doors, sharing practical knowledge and ensuring that creators in the regions have a place in the national conversation. Mas kusog, mas lig-on para sa rehiyon!”
Aserios is a seasoned publicist, blogger, content creator, strategist and resource person for social media. Aside from being one of the founding directors of CICP and the founder of Mindanaoan.com, a multi-awarded blog that has long championed stories from Mindanao and beyond, she is also a 2012 alumna of the USA Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program and a United States O-1 visa grantee, a classification awarded to individuals with extraordinary ability or achievement. She recently completed an Artificial Intelligence-related course from Harvard Business School.
