DUE to the continued various law enforcement operations, the crime volume in the province of Misamis Occidental has significantly decreased

This was according to Police Col. Anthony Placido, the province’s provincial director.

The decline of the crime rate at least for the first semester of the year 2022 according to Placido, was the result of the relentless efforts against lawless elements conducted by the Misamis Occidental Police Provincial Office.

Based on the Crime Information Reporting and Analysis of the Provincial Police Office, it recorded a total crime volume of 613 from January 1, 2022, to June 30 of the same year compared to 688 crime incidents of the same period last year with a significant decrease of 11%.

Some of these operations are the campaign against the wanted persons that yielded a total of 372 arrests of most wanted persons and other wanted individuals from December 2021 to June this year.

Also the campaign against loose firearms, resulted in the confiscation of 75 both short and long firearms. 105 firearms are being safe-keep in the respective local police stations.

In the campaign against illegal drugs, the same police office conducted a total of 19 operations which resulted in the arrest of 25 individuals and the confiscation of 126.77 grams of illegal drugs with an estimated street value of P330, 412.00.

The PPO is also persistent in its campaign against illegal fishing, illegal logging, and illegal gambling.

The Provincial Director commends the troops for a job well done. He appealed to the public to intensify the coordination and support by giving the authorities timely and valuable information, even as he encouraged the lawless individuals to go back to the folds of the law.

Placido said criminal gangs and drug personalities have no place in Misamis Occidental.

He said, they will not allow lawlessness to reign in their place nor the criminals will induce fear in their constituents.
