OUTGOING Misamis Oriental Provincial Governor Peter Unabia will leave the incoming Governor-elect Juliette Uy approximately P336 million in the provincial coffers.
The Provincial Treasurer’s Office reported P330 million in cash as of the first quarter of 2025, according to Provincial Treasurer Ronald Jame Violon.
During today’s (June 27) turnover ceremony between Unabia and Uy, department heads were asked by Uy’s spokesperson, Celso Abocejo, about the functions and status of each department.
Violon stated that the general fund holds P336 million, while the Special Education Fund contains P131 million.
Abocejo, however, requested June data on the provincial hall's cash possession, sayig, “unsa na karon, April, May, June, tulo na ka bulan ang milabay.”
He expressed belief that the reported amount might not be the exact balance currently in the Capitol.
Abocejo also noted that the matter of the Capitol’s debt servicing has not yet been discussed.
Meanwhile, all documents turned over earlier by Provincial Administrator John Venice Ladaga were received by Uy’s transition team. However, Abocejo reiterated that they would not sign the documents until they could verify their contents.
“Subject for verification pa kung unsay unod ato, gidawat pa ang tanang dokumento pero wala ta nipirma kung unsa ang unod niini,” Abocejo said.
He added that their focus is on understanding critical and crucial information from each department to ensure that services for the province are not hampered.
“Sa July 1, dili gusto ma hamper ni Juliette Uy (governor) ang serbisyo,” Abocejo said.
Ladaga, for his part, said the transition was smooth and that they are willing to answer any further queries from the incoming Uy administration.
He expressed confidence that all documents turned over had undergone a legal process.
“Gikalipay namo nga there is a harmonious transition,” the outgoing provincial administrator said.
