A 45-year-old mother died when the motorcycle she was riding and driven by her daughter, a minor, collided with an oncoming vehicle at Upper Barangay Carmen at 5:20 this morning.
Police identified the victim as Analie ‘Yangyang’ Mabaylo, a resident of Zone 1 Balulang, Cagayan de Oro City.
She died upon arrival at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center due to the impact.
While the victim’s daughter identified as Rodana Mabaylo, 16, was also hospitalized due to serious injuries she sustained.
In an initial investigation, it was learned that the motorcycle was heading towards the city proper when suddenly another vehicle, driven by Dereck Loie Angodung, in an opposite direction appeared and accidentally hit their motorcycle.
Due to the impact, the victim and her daughter were thrown and slammed into the vehicle’s windshield before they landed on the pavement.
The two were rushed to the said hospital for treatment.
Angudong, 27, presently staying at Primavera condominium located at Upper Carmen, is now under the custody of the authorities for further investigation.
