POLICE operatives in Cagayan de Oro City are now in search of a lone suspect who snatched the bag of a female media practitioner over the weekend.
Cagayan de Oro City Police Office Director Aaron Mandia, identified the victim as Menzi Montes, 36, married, and a resident of Zone-1 Estakahan, Barangay Agusan of the said city.
Montes, who is currently the news director of the said FM station and dxCC owned by Radio Mindanao Network, was on her way home from her workplace at iFM radio station driving her motorcycle at 11:20 pm, Saturday.
In an interview with the victim, she told Gold Star Daily that upon reaching the intersection of national highway-Sitio Sambulawan, Barangay Agusan, she noticed an XRM motorcycle tried to overtake her.
“Mao tong milikay ko apan nasarasay akong motor ug natumba padulong sa daplin. Giduol dayon ang nag drive sa maong motor ug mipugos pagkuha sa akong bag,” Montes narrated.
Montes told a police investigator assigned at Police station 6 in Puerto that the said bag contained cash amounting to more or less P10,000, four mobile phones, pieces of jewelry, an automated teller machIne cards, wallet, driver’s license, a pass book, and other personal belongings.
But at about 2 am, Sunday, a certain cab driver went to the said radio station bringing with him some of the stolen items placed in an ecobag.
Inside the pouch two iphones, pieces of jewelry, airpod, a wallet with some cash, digital cards, a driver's license, two sim cards, and a memory card.
The tricab driver when interviewed by police said he was just ordered by somebody to return the items to the iFM office. He said he did not know the name of the person who requested him.
The former is still under investigation as to determine whether he has knowlege of the said crime.
The police as of this writing are still facing a blank wall as to the identity of the suspect.
