PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur––The six-day Naliyagan Festival at Naliyagan Cultural Center, Gov. D.O. Plaza Govern-ment Center, Prosperidad, this province, starts today. The festival, from June 12-17, has the theme: “Agusanong Kultura: Padayon sa Makanu-nayong Kalamboan.” Organizers promised more fun at the 23rd Naliyagan Festival kicks off today in time for the the 117th Independence Day celebration at the Rizal Park. According to Gov. Adolph Edward Plaza, there will be a showcase of the Municipal Embassy’s best practices, culture, heritage, municipal icon, agricultural, and non-agricultural products. “Let us all express our heartfelt gratitude to our Almighty God as we all joyfully and proudly exhibit our skills and talents and sincerely appreciate the colorful cultural heritage that we have,” Gov. Plaza said. “Together, we will lift Agusan del Sur, and bring it to the limelight through the Naliyagan Festival.” Rep. Maria Valentina Plaza of the province’s 1st District said she was excited as she joins Agusanons during the annual event. She said it would promote unity. “May this annual event serve to empower us in our pursuit for renewal and lasting reforms,” Rep.Plaza said. Rep. Evelyn Mellana of the province’s 2nd District said, “We come together to commemorate our cultural heritage and history as one Agusanon people. We have made lots of strides as one united province ever since the establishment of Agusan del Sur 48 years back. But if we look back, it is likewise to look forward to the promise of the future and the hope of tomorrow.
