POLICE offices in Northern Mindanao have been ordered an increase in police visibility and set-up police assistance desks, while coordinating with local government agencies in observance of All Souls’ Day, a police official said Sunday.
Camp Alagar spokesperson Pol. Lieutenant Colonel Michelle Olaivar said the setting up of assistance desks in strategic locations is meant to ensure the safety of the public.
Olaivar said the regional police has already laid down pre security preparations for the said upcoming celebration.
“We have directed our lower units na dapat ta visible sa mga kadalanan ang atong mga kapulisan especially from October 29 to November 2,” said Olaivar so that the travelers from other regions or those coming from other places are ensured of swift assistance from the police.
Earlier, Police Brigadier Rolando Anduyan has ordered an increase in police visibility in public areas in northern Mindanao following the order of the interior department and PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar.
She said Anduyan has even already ordered the different unit commanders on the ground to coordinate closely with their local government units.
“The police in the region are already prepared for the upcoming festivities,” said Olaivar.
She also emphasized that they are now closely coordinating with the LGUs in the region due to varying quarantine classifications in their respective areas of responsibilities for the mitigation of the COVID-19 contagion.
“Some cemeteries are closed while other areas are open but to limited capacity,” she said.
Here in Cagayan de Oro City, Mayor Oscar Moreno already issued order to close again for the second consecutive year all cemeteries from October 29 to November 2, due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
Several people are expected to visit weeks prior as cemeteries would be closed, to avoid huge crowds that may lead to COVID-19 transmissions, said Olaivar.
“We will intensify police visibility especially to all areas of concern,” said Olaivar.
She said that enough police personnel will be mobilized to secure the identified places of concern like terminals, public places in the region.
Olaivar said they will also establish road safety marshals in strategic areas to ensure tight security and assistance for travelers coming in and out of the region.
