THE Office of the Ombudsman for Mindanao has summoned officials from Barangay 31, Cagayan de Oro City, to attend a clarificatory hearing.
This hearing is scheduled for November 20, 2024, in Davao City.
The case involves serious allegations brought by complainants Lee E. Nellas, Flordeliz M. Java, and Rogelio M. Waniwan.
They have accused Barangay Chairman Diosdado T. Wabe, Barangay Kagawad Delia T. Wabe, and Barangay Treasurer Lycelle D. Quilantang of misconduct.
The charges include violations of Section 3(e) of Republic Act No. 3019, focusing on malversation through falsification.
Additionally, in a two-page summons, the officials face accusations of dishonesty and grave misconduct.
The hearing will take place at the Office of the Ombudsman for Mindanao, located at GSIS Heights, Matina, Davao City. It is set for 10:00 am, and all parties are expected to attend.
During the hearing, the Ombudsman stated that the parties would not have the right to directly examine or cross-examine witnesses.
Instead, they can submit clarificatory questions through the designated Hearing Officer.
The Hearing Officer will assess the relevance and necessity of these questions and will pose them appropriately, ensuring the hearing remains focused and orderly.
If any party fails to attend, it will be considered a waiver of their right to be present, and the hearing will proceed as scheduled. No requests for postponement will be allowed, underscoring the importance of the session.
This order for a clarificatory hearing was issued by Acting Director Hilde C. Dela Cruz-Likit and authorized by Deputy Ombudsman for Mindanao, Anderson A. Lo, under the Ombudsman Act of 1989.
The proceedings aim to clarify the issues at hand and ensure a fair investigation into the serious allegations against the barangay officials.
