MORE than half a million worth of suspected shabu was confiscated from a call center agent and his companion during a buy-bust operation conducted by operatives assigned at the Police Regional Drug Enforcement Unit in one of the subdivisions in Cagayan de Oro City yesterday evening.
Police Major Jason Sto. Domingo, RPDEU head, identified the suspects as Arvin Corpus, 43, of Kisanlu Subdivision, Barangay Iponan; and Carlos Dungca, 38 of Orion Street, Terry hills subdivision, Barangay Bulua, both of the said city.
Raiding policemen were able to seize four large heat-sealed sachets containing suspected shabu weighing 100 grams with an estimated total value of P680,000, shabu paraphernalia, and P1,000 buy-bust money.
The arrest occurred at the residence of Dungca located at Block 29, Kisanlu subdivision at about 6 pm.
Dungca, according to police, admitted he was a former businessman but due to the pandemic, he went into bankruptcy and shift to illegal activity by selling illegal drugs.
Corpus, for his part, is connected with one of the call centers in the city. He said he was just visiting his house in Dungca when the raid happened. He said he is innocent.
Sto. Domingo said his men had been monitoring Dungca’s activities for two weeks.
He said the latter’s clients are individuals from neighboring barangays in the city.
He said that before the operation, the suspect had already sold some of the contraband to his clients.
One of the operatives revealed that Dungca admitted he got the volume of drugs from Lumbia.
The suspects are now under custody by RPDEU for further investigation.
They will be facing a case in violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Anti-illegal Drug Law.
