By NITZ ARANCON Correspondent EVANGELICAL ministers from across Mindanao met here for two days to tackle the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL). They signed a manifesto yesterday to register their strong opposition to three provisions in the proposed law. The manifesto was approved by some 250 evangelical leaders who came over for the Mindanao Evangelical Leaders’ Peace Forum at Marigold Hotel here. The signing of the manifesto came ahead of a “Mindanao CSOs Solidarity for the Bangsamoro”activity at the Balay Mindanaw Peace Center in Bulua, this city, today. The Rev. Genesis Udang of the Blessed Hope Christian Community church here said the evangelical ministers raised serious questions on the BBL’s provisions on the shariah system, territory, and funding, calling these unfair to Christians and lumad groups. “Ang among gusto ilawom sa demokrasya nga sistima nga kon unsay imong ihatag sa Bangsamoro, hatagan usab sa susamang binipisyo ang tanan kay kon imong hatagan ang usa ka grupo, apan ang uban wala, dako kana nga inhustisya, ug walay kalinaw nga makab-ot nia-na dinhi sa Mindanao,” Udang said. He said the evangelical leaders were for Mindanao peace but they also see the proposed law as one sided in favor of the Moro Islamic Liberation (MILF). The ministers expressed serious concerns about the shariah system being institutionalized in the country’s law books, and about what they perceive to be a creeping expansion of the Bangsamoro territory. They also questioned the proposed budget for the territory and government spending for the MILF. “Dili kita uyon kay wala man gyu’y mechanism kon unsay buhaton kon magka-conflict ang Christian ug ang Muslim,” Udang said. “Para sa Muslim lang kana nga balaod. How about kon ang Christian ug lumad ang dunay problima ug maka-commit ug kaso sulod sa Bangsamoro land––unsa may buhaton?” He said the evangelical ministers were also opposed to the budget for the proposed Bangsamoro territory. The group said the government should instead work to change the form of government to federal, and “fine tune” the present Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm). The group would be sending the manifesto to Malacanang, Senators Ferdinand Marcos and Alan Peter Cayetano, and the House ad hoc committee on the BBL chaired by Rep. Rufus Rodriguez of the city’s 2nd District. Udang said the evangelical groups would stage a series of “prayer rallies” across Mindanao if the government does not heed their call. “Kon dili kita nila pamiawon, ila kana nga katungod, pero dili pud nila mapog-ngan ang among katungod sa pagpadayag sa among mga sentimento. Sa sunod nga mga adlaw, makita ninyo ang mga prayer rally sa mga pastor sa mga syudad sa Mindanao, lakip dinhi sa Cagayan de Oro,” he said.
