CAGAYAN de Oro City registered the lowest number of cases of Covid-19 compared to 17 other highly urbanized Philippine cities, Mayor Oscar Moreno said.

Citing data from the Department of Health, the mayor said the city has 15 documented Covid-19 cases as of June 9.

The other highly urbanized cities and their corresponding Covid-19 cases (from the lowest): Bacolod City, 17; Iloilo City, 32; Baguio City, 36; Lapu-Lapu City, 137; Zamboanga City, 159; Mandaue City, 312; Davao City, 316; Taguig City, 469; Pasay City, 581; Pasig City, 642; Caloocan City, 724; Makati City, 734; Mandaluyong City, 759; Paranaque City, 798; Manila City, 1,663; Quezon City, 2,404; and Cebu City, 2,883.

Although Cagayan de Oro has the lowest at 15 Covid-19 cases, Moreno said the city government will continue with its best efforts to prevent the disease from further spreading even as he pointed out that local officials and residents should remain cautious.

He said until a cure is discovered, mass-produced, and made available to the public, everyone should not be complacent.

Moreno also called for more discipline even as he urged residents to observe public health safety rules like wearing of face masks, physical distancing, hand-washing, proper cough etiquette, and avoiding unnecessary outdoor activities. (Ian Fuentes of CIO)
