CAGAYAN de Oro City has emerged as a top performer in local revenue growth among highly urbanized cities in the Philippines, recording a 24.52% increase in 2022 under the leadership of Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy.
The city’s locally sourced revenue rose from P2.702 billion in 2021 to P2.864 billion in 2022, further growing to P3.128 billion in 2023. This achievement placed Cagayan de Oro ahead of other cities, including Mandaue City in Cebu, and was recognized during the Bureau of Local Government Finance’s 37th Anniversary.
City Administrator Atty. Roy Hilario Raagas and Treasurer Jasmin Maagad accepted the award on behalf of the local government.
Mayor Uy’s administration is noted for its community-focused programs, such as “Klarex nga Serbisyo sa Baryo,” which delivers essential services to underserved areas, building stronger ties between the local government and residents.
Cagayan de Oro’s success highlights the city’s effective governance and fiscal management, serving as a model for other local governments aiming to improve services and infrastructure through sustainable development.
