CAGAYAN de Oro City was recognized as one of the ‘Top Overall LGU Performers’ at the 2024 Regional SubayBAYANI Awards, celebrating its achievements in governance, transparency, and infrastructure under Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy.
The awards, organized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 10, honor the accomplishments of local government units across the region.
Cagayan de Oro’s recognition highlights its commitment to improving residents' quality of life, according to Sheila Lumbatan, chief of staff for the Mayor’s office.

During the October 9 ceremony, held at a local hotel, OIC Regional Director Yvette Tolentino-Sunga presented the award, which was accepted on behalf of Mayor Uy by Majority Floor Leader Edgar Cabanlas.
Cabanlas praised the city’s progress in infrastructure and essential services, attributing the award to Mayor Uy’s effective leadership.
“This award is a testament to our commitment to projects that directly benefit the community, from roads to public facilities,” said Cabanlas.
He added that the recognition motivates the city to continue pursuing excellence and setting a standard for other LGUs in the region.
