HEALING takes time. If you stop trying the keto or carnivore diet on the first day, the first week, the first month, the first year, healing will be merely a dream that may never come true.

There’s no such thing as an overnight success. Go ask Alexandra Eala who started playing tennis at the age of four. She’s now 20. That’s 16 years of practice, practice, practice.

There are carnivores who have been doing the diet for decades now. If only I knew about this when I was a toddler, imagine the diseases I could have avoided and illnesses prevented.

A diet-conscious toddler? Hmmm. Imagine me saying no to, wait, what was I eating and drinking then? I do have a photo where I’m holding a pack of cigarettes at that age. That’s probably why when I began smoking while still a college freshman in Manila, I proudly told Mama about it upon arriving home here in Cagayan de Oro for my Christmas vacation.

Mama (shocked): Ha?!

Now, smoking makes anyone some kind of a pariah who has to stay at the smoking area or, if there’s none, outside of a building even during a blizzard.

Better a smoker than a contractor of the Department of the Public Works and Highways, eh? Or, which is worse, the contractor or his nepo baby? Which came first? The contractor, of course. Or the government agency bigwig who’s allegedly asking for commissions? Or the politician who’s allegedly calling up the bigwig for the former’s share of the commission? How many people in that hierarchy of graft and corruption are demanding for their shares of the commission?

I’m shocked that DPWH contractor Sarah Discaya was still able to buy 28 luxury cars after all the commissions she’s expected to share with government officials. Those cars include a Rolls Royce, P44 million; a Mercedes-Maybach, P22 million; a Bentley, P20 million; a Mercedes-AMG G 63, P20 million; a White Cadillac Escalade, P11 million; a Black Cadillac Escalade, P8 million; two GMC SUVs, P11 million each; Range Rover Autobiography, P16 million (source: ABS-CBN News).

In an interview with Julius Babao, Discaya revealed that she bought the Rolls Royce to get its umbrella freebie. So, I’ll buy France if I want to have the Eiffel Tower. Haha.

I’m always happy when I receive a free umbrella. But that’s without spending P44 million for it.

While watching Discaya answer questions in her TV interviews where she’s giving people a tour of her luxurious lifestyle, I gotta feeling she needs a psychiatrist to make her come back to earth.

All along I thought it would be Vice President Sara Duterte’s Senate impeachment trial hogging the headlines by now. But it’s another Sarah — with an h — who’s now answering questions from politicians who allegedly have some answering to do, too, if the madlang pehpohl were allowed to investigate them.

Graft and corruption have become the standard operating procedure in Pinas. There was a time when only the country’s president allegedly had access to the national treasury. Now, even the nepo baby can allegedly take advantage of the taxes we pay. Hmmm. Kind of a free-for-all.
