AUTHORITIES seized over P6.8 million worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU-10) on Friday, January 10, in Sitio Kamakawan, Barangay Indahag.
The suspects, identified as Teserleve Sacote, 32, and her husband, Allan Sacote, 30, both residents of Sambulawan, Agusan, were arrested during the operation around 3 pm.
Seized from the couple were one kilogram of suspected shabu, including a medium-sized sachet valued at P6,000, used as the buy-bust item.
Authorities also confiscated 13 additional sachets of various sizes containing the illegal substance, along with a digital weighing scale, a coin purse, cash used in the operation, and a red and white Toyota Vios taxi.
According to an RDEU-10 operative, the couple had been under surveillance for about a month.
However, investigators were unaware of the large quantity of drugs in the suspects' possession.
“Wala ni sila nakasulod sa top ten pero later na namo nahibaw-an nga in-ana diay kadaghan,” said one of the officers, noting that the suspects were not on the region’s top drug watch list.
The RDEU-10 vowed to continue efforts to apprehend violators of Republic Act 9165, specifically Sections 5 and 11, which penalize the sale and possession of illegal drugs.
