By NITZ ARANCON Correspondent FORMER mayor Vicente Emano sent an emissary in the hope of convincing the administration PDP-Laban into forging a coalition agreement with his Padayon Pilipino, the vice president for northern Mindanao of President Duterte’s party claimed on Tuesday. But Padayon Pilipino spokesman Alexander Dacer denied that Emano sent an emissary to the PDP-Laban, a party led by his erstwhile political allies. Alex Paurom, PDP-Laban vice president for Region 10, claimed that an emissary of Emano went to his house in December 2016 because the ex-mayor wanted to reunite with the political party founded by former Senate president Aquilino Pimentel Jr.. Emano used to be a member of the PDP-Laban. He severed his ties with the political party to form his own Padayon Pilipino at a time when he was preparing to run for mayor of the city. Paurom said Emano’s emissary personally went to see him at his house in Dec. 23 to inform him that Emano was looking forward to reuniting with his former political party. He declined to identify the emissary but revealed that he is a businessman. Paurom said he assured the emissary that he would bring the matter to the attention of the PDP-Laban’s national leadership, including Senate President Aquilino Martin Pimentel III. Incidentally, the younger Pimentel, the PDP-Laban president, once challenged the reelection bid of Emano and lost after a grueling campaign characterized by political mudslinging. Former councilor Dacer said he had no idea what Paurom was talking about, adding that an emissary to the PDP-Laban was never discussed by Padayon Pilipino leaders. But Dacer said he was aware that someone wanted to be bridge the gap between the two parties. “Pero wala may gisuso si Mayor Emano nga emisaryo aron mo-adto sa kampo ni Sen. Pimentel,” Dacer said. Emano, according to Dacer, can opt to forge political alliances with the Nationalista Party or the Kilusang Pagbabago of President Duterte.
