POLICE yesterday killed a taxi driver who allegedly fired shots at an officer during an alleged entrapment at around 2 am at the Bolonsori cemetery in Camaman-an, this city.

Authorities identified the victim as Klyd Bryan Llamis, 32, of Zone 4, Barangay Bulua, this city.

Capt. Jason Sto. Domingo, team leader of the Regional Special Operation Unit at Camp Alagar, said Llamis was selling a .357 revolver  to an officer who posed as a buyer but fired a shot after realizing that it was an entrapment.

Like many other crime suspects killed before him, Llamis, based on the police narrative, couldn’t aim his gun properly even at close range. Police alleged that Llamis fired a caliber .45 pistol twice but failed to hit his target.

Sto. Domingo alleged that Llamis tried to escape on a motorcycle.

Sto. Domingo said the suspect was rushed to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center where he was declared dead on arrival. Llamis died of two gunshots to the chest.

At the crime scene, police found a caliber .45 pistol, a revolver, and the motorcycle used by Llamis.

Police claimed they also seized from Llamis suspected illegal drugs that could command a price of some P420 thousand.

Also seized were drug paraphernalia and six pieces P500 bills, a Holster and an orange bag.

At the NMMC morgue at around 8 am yesterday, Llamis’s 54-year-old grieving mother Virgie doubted the police’s narrative and called for justice.

The elder Llamis said while her son had been in jail because of illegal drugs, he changed his ways after he was released from the city jail in April last year as a result of plea bargaining.

She said her son drove a taxi and at times, a habal-habal. “Kon dili taxi iyang drayban, nag-drive gihapon na siya ug habal-habal.”

She said of her son’s death: “Wala ko masayod unsay akong buhaton ani.”

Meanwhile, A 27-year-old suspected shabu user was arrested after being caught in the act in a subdivision in Barangay Iponan.

Cagayan de Oro police director Col. Henry Dampal identified the suspect as Dennis Joey Javier, a resident of Iponan.

Police said the suspect had another companion during the arrest but was able to escape.

Confiscated from were five small heat-sealed transparent cellophanes containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu with an estimated street value of P5,000 and assorted drug paraphernalia.

Dampal said the officers were there supposed to arrest a suspected robber but caught the suspect instead.

Javier was temporarily detained at Maharlika mini-cell pending the filing of charges.
