A HEAVY equipment operator and a salesman were arrested by authorities manning a checkpoint in Bukidnon Tuesday evening, this week.
Police Col. Jun Mark Lagare, Bukidnon Provincial Police Director, identified the suspects as Roland Pascual Arances, 30, single, a resident of Purok 17, Poblacion Sur; and Niño Emmanuel Jamisolamin, 31, single, and a resident of Purok 13, Kadingilan Road, both of Don Carlos of the said province.
They were arrested by a joint team of 2nd Bukidnon Police Mobile Force Company together with Maramag municipal police and Valencia City stations at about 7:45 pm while at a checkpoint at Purok 4, Camp 1, Maramag.
Confiscated from the suspects’ possession were three sachets containing suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P20,400, P81,970 cash money, illegal drug paraphernalia, and some personal belongings.
It was learned that prior to the arrest, the suspects were on board a Yamaha motorcycle with a temporary plate no. 1201668737 driven by Pascual. The two were heading for Maramag from Don Carlos of the same province.
Upon seeing that the back-rider did not wear a helmet, authorities ordered them to stop.
The two were then asked to present pertinent papers such as a driver’s license, and motor registration.
Police said that when Arances pulled his wallet from his pants’ pocket, accidentally an aluminum foil strip containing dried leaves of marijuana fell to the ground.
According to the police, Arances had already been arrested two years ago by Don Carlos police with the same offense.
He was released after availing Plea Bargaining Agreement.
It can be recalled that on Monday, also this week the same thing occurred, a habal-habal driver was arrested by Sumilao police in Bukidnon manning a checkpoint.
A motorcycle-riding suspect was about to present some pertinent papers from his wallet when a cigarette pack accidentally fell on the ground exposing a sachet of shabu.
