IMMORAL misconduct remains a key factor that can lead to the revocation of a professional license, according to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Regional Office 10 legal officer, Atty. Norhana Pangandaman Paporo.

Speaking at the Kapihan sa Philippine Information Agency-10 on December 10, Paporo highlighted the importance of maintaining ethical standards among licensed professionals.

“A professional license is a privilege,” she said, emphasizing that it must be treated with respect.

“It doesn’t mean that just because you’re a licensed professional, you can engage in immoral misconduct. That’s unrelated to our profession,” she added.

In Northern Mindanao, the PRC recorded one case of license revocation due to immoral misconduct.

The region’s PRC operates under six regulatory boards and corresponding laws, ensuring professionals adhere to ethical and legal standards.

Paporo reminded professionals to remain mindful of their responsibilities and advised those considering filing a case against a licensed professional to be prepared for a thorough process.

“A decision on license revocation involves substantial and procedural due process,” she said, adding that PRC follows strict rules and regulations.

She also urged individuals planning to pursue such cases to consult legal counsel.

“We [PRC] handle administrative matters, which include reprimand, suspension, and revocation,” Paporo explained.

Meanwhile, PRC Regional Director Julie L. Sabalza encouraged professionals to continue fostering passion for their work, paired with the right attitude.

“If you have passion for your job, education will come second. Serve and do what you have to do,” Sabalza said.
