A 33-year-old person who tried to evade an arrest from the pursuing policemen manning a checkpoint was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm last Friday.

Police Col. Jun Mark Lagare, Bukidnon Provincial Police Director, identified tje suspect as Cerelo Sulade, alias ‘Loloy,’ single, unemployed, and a resident of Purok 1, South Poblacion, Maramag of the said province.

A police report revealed that prior to the arrest, a joint team of Quezon Municipal Police Station led by Police Lt. Dixon Arango, and 2nd Bukidnon Police Mobile Force Company was manning a checkpoint at 11:30 am along the secondary national highway of Quemtras, Barangay Butong, Quezon.

Later, a motorcycle with plate number 857-KNP, color Black was driven by the suspect arrived.

Authorities ordered the driver to stop to check whether he has pertinent papers. But instead of heeding the police, the latter speed up his motorcycle away from the area.

A brief chase then occurred. Unfortunately, the said driver lost control and tumbled down the road.

The pursuing team apprehended the suspect and upon a body search, they found a short firearm tucked on his side.

Recovered from the suspect’s possession was a .38 caliber pistol with no serial number and loaded with six live bullets.

The suspect also failed to present any pertinent papers for his driven motorcycle.

Sulade, together with his driven motorcycle and seized firearm were now under the custody of Quezon police for proper disposition.

While the apprehending officers are now preparing a criminal complaint about Violation of RA-10591 better known as illegal possession of a firearm against the suspect.
