TO FIGHT boredom during the COVID-19 quarantine, youth officials in Barangay Tagpangi, Cagayan de Oro City have held ‘Quaranzone,’ a beautification contest, said during a podcast with Communications Sec. Martin Andanar on Saturday, Nov. 21.

“Targeting to promote cleanliness and create attractions amid the pandemic, thus the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Barangay Tagpangi holds this contest,” said Tagpangi SK chair Alaizaville Mendoza.

She said they  launched the Quaranzone Beautification Contest on August 30, during the Linggo ng Kabataan.

"We launched the Quaranzone Beautification Contest, to get in touch with the community as to how they are coping with COVID-19," Mendoza said.

She said that health protocols are also posted in the said spots to remind the residents on what should be observed during the quarantine period.

“Even before the pandemic, the youth are very active to participate in all of the programs of the SK,” Mendoza said.

The youth also helped the Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs) and the barangay in providing food packs and hygiene kits.

The youth have become the frontliners of the barangay thus, the council ensured that they are protected and given proper attention.

"We should always use our voice in the right way, to encourage members of the society to participate,” Mendoza said, adding that the youth is very important in nation building. (Recthie Tolinero/PIA10)
